Outdoor fireplaces are becoming increasingly popular among homeowners throughout the world. Having a fireplace installed within an outdoor area can provide you with the opportunity to enjoy more time in the outdoors during colder weather, and can also provide an alternative to conventional barbecues. Outdoor fireplaces can also contribute to the overall design of your exterior property by providing it with a rustic look. Within this article we will explore the different outdoor stone fireplace designs that are available.

Do-it-yourself designs

A fireplace is not exactly a complex creation. At its most basic, a fireplace is simply a construction that prevents flame from escaping and channels smoke so that it does not spread all over the place in unwanted directions. If you know a thing or two about masonry and how to work with bricks, you can easily design a stone fireplace on your own with only a few basic materials and in a relatively short amount of time. One of the primary advantages of building your own fireplace is that you get to be the creator of its overall design. You can fashion a specific shape or style that appeals to your personal preferences.

Buying a stone fireplace

Not everyone has the time or desire to build their own fireplace. In these situations, most homeowners choose to purchase an outdoor stone fireplace from a company specialized in fireplace design ideas. Depending on the reach of the company, you are likely to find a broad range of different models available. A quick look at your outdoor property can help you to come up with a good idea about what sort of fireplace model would look best within the area. Traditional stone fireplaces resembling those that were used hundreds of years ago still remains as popular as ever, although there are also more contemporary designs that appeal to the tastes of homeowners interested in more modern styles.

There are even some companies that allow you to customize your fireplace design. These companies let you choose between varieties of different finishes so you can select the one that matches your property best. The basic design of most outdoor fireplaces include a central area where the fire is lit and where wood is added regularly, a small chimney that channels smoke into the air so it does not come anywhere near ground level, and sometimes a lower storage section where wood can be placed.

Outdoor fireplaces can be placed within a variety of settings. For example, if you have ample space on your property, including a terrace or patio, a fireplace could be installed neatly in the corner. If the stone fireplace design you chose is equipped with a fire-warmed oven or cross section for open-air barbecue, an installation of this sort would enable you to host outdoor meals easily. You could also choose your fireplace models to be constructed with stones that resemble those used in your terrace floor design, giving off the impression that your fireplace was already installed before you moved into your property.

Fireplaces can be used to improve your overall comfort by heating up the living room. They can be used to replace conventional heating systems and save you money on the monthly power bill. Last but not least, they can be used to provide a distinct decorative appeal to the interior of your living room.

Installing a fireplace is no small task, especially if your home was not purchased with a chimney or ventilation system already installed. When it comes to remodeling an existing fireplace, this is easier to accomplish than if you were to install a fireplace from scratch. Fortunately, due to the fact that gas fireplaces are now widely available for purchase and installation, installing a modern fireplace design without the need for an advanced ventilation system is not an impossibility. Among the broad range of modern fireplace designs to choose from, you will find that some gas fireplaces can run without the need for interior ventilation (beyond an open window, of course). This is because gas fires can run on a type of fuel that is non-toxic.

Choosing an appropriate fireplace design

As far as your modern fireplace design is concerned, there are hundreds of options to choose from. Contemporary fireplaces differ from traditional ones mainly in terms of their style and the materials used in their construction. However, the same basic idea remains intact even in the most modern fireplace designs and styles available on the market. Modern fireplaces naturally work the best within settings that are established with a contemporary interior design, and can help to lend a 21st Century appeal to your living room.

If you run an online search for modern fireplace styles, you will find a number of web sites that can help you to get a few ideas about the fireplace design that would look best within your living room. Of course, interior decoration schemes vary widely, and what works well within the setting depicted in a particular magazine or decor web site might not look as attractive in your own living room. This is where a good look at your existing interior design can help you to come up with a good idea on your own.

Modern open fire designs

Some modern designs adopt an open fire approach that was uncharacteristic of conventional fireplaces. Traditional fireplaces resemble each other in that the fire is usually enclosed within the boundaries of a glass casing of sorts, although the oldest fireplaces from over a century ago were open as well. The modern type of open fireplace is somewhat different in terms of its construction. This model consists of a fire pit extended vertically above ground level. That is to say, the fireplace itself is at about waist level and fully open, equipped with a chimney system of its own that keeps smoke from spreading throughout the area in which the fireplace is installed. These fireplaces lend a distinct modern appeal to any living room.

There are many other models available for you to look into. In any case, you will need to consider the overall dimensions of your living room before making a decision, as the size of the fireplace will influence both the level of heating your living room will receive and the way the living room looks.

The installation of a fireplace within your home is one of the first steps along the road to establishing a cozy and welcoming household atmosphere. Fireplaces are popular among homes all over the world, and many people swear by the way flickering flames manage to seduce them to sleep after a long day’s work. Fireplaces are great for creating ambiance and altering mood, much in the same way that music can be used to provide a lively or romantic setting simply by playing softly in the background.

Wood fireplace mantel designs for interior decoration

Fireplaces are often built from stone, and in many cases the models that are installed within homes can be elaborated upon and improved in order to make them more attractive. One of the best ways to improve a fireplace’s overall look is to install a custom wood fireplace mantel design. A fireplace mantel is the wooden section of fireplace designs that stick out horizontally from the chimney frame (creating a kind of shelf) and surrounds the front side of the fireplace, usually in a rectangular shape. Most fireplace mantels are made from wood.

A wood fireplace mantel design is often built with the intention to create a rustic or traditional aesthetic. In order for this to be accomplished effectively, the wood is molded and stained to a specific degree. This helps to lend the wood that shiny and polished look that can be seen in traditional furniture models of various kinds. However, the design of the mantel itself is not the only way to improve a fireplace’s ability to improve the home decor.

After you have chosen a wood fireplace mantel design and have had it built into your fireplace (this is usually performed by a professional sent from the company that you purchased the mantel or fireplace from), you can use the mantel as a supporting unit for other decorative artifacts. For example, many homeowners like to place their framed pictures along the fireplace mantel. In this way, whenever a guest or visitor looks over at the fire, these pictures can be clearly seen. You can decorate your fireplace with flower vases, souvenirs, or even trophies. Seasonal holidays can also influence the nature of your wood fireplace mantel decoration. During Christmas, people often attach tinsel or holly around the fireplace mantel, helping to establish a distinct Christmas feeling.

Wood fireplace mantels are one of the most popular fireplace mantel types available, but they are certainly not the only type. Mantels can be constructed from other materials as well, such as stone or brick. However, the primary attraction of wood in mantel design may be explained by the unique contrast that is created when well-stained wood is blended against a stone or brick background. Additionally, there are many wooden mantels that can be crafted by experienced carpenters into an assorted range of different shapes and artistic styles. You will likely be spending a considerable amount of time browsing through different models before you finally chance upon the one design that stands out from the rest and appeals to you the most in terms of its visual appeal and overall functionality.

One of the most popular mechanisms for heating a household area is the modern gas fireplace. Gas fireplaces are convenient in that they can be lit immediately at the flip of a switch and do not require you to spend several minutes setting up firewood with tinder or fire starters. Gas fireplaces may function differently than regular fireplaces, and some can be ventilated without the use of a conventional chimney. This makes the installation of a gas fireplace a much simpler process, specifically in household areas that did not have a regular fireplace installed.

The Size Factor

One of the first things to consider after having made the decision to install a gas fireplace is the gas fireplace design that you will be using. There are a wide range of different designs to choose from, but before you get into hunting for a specific look or style, you should look into the “size” factor. The size of your fireplace should be determined according to the size of the room you intend to install it in. A small fireplace will not heat an exceptionally large living room adequately, so coming up with an appropriate size measurement is one of the first things you will need to figure out regarding gas fireplace design.

Selecting an attractive gas fireplace design

Once you have figured out the size you will need your fireplace to have, you can move on to selecting fireplace design ideas based on their overall visual appeal. There are an assorted range of different materials used in the design and construction of a typical gas fireplace. Some units are built from brick, while others are made from sturdy metal like iron. Either way, the central area of the fireplace itself will need to be constructed from materials that are resistant to extremely high temperatures. This is an important factor to consider if you choose to build your own indoor fireplace from scratch. In most situations, homeowners will choose a gas fireplace design from a company that specializes in designing and selling fireplaces. If you choose to purchase a fireplace, chances are that the company that sold it to you will take care of all of the details associated with the fireplace’s installation.

Fireplaces equipped with gas insert systems are a convenience of the modern age. Homeowners can now light a fire simply by flipping a switch or in some situations even by hitting a button on a remote control. At the same time, remember that gas fireplaces are among the most expensive types to have installed. However, you can save a lot of money that would have otherwise been spent on wood, fire starters, and tinder. This is because gas insert fireplaces typically use a gel fuel instead of wood, keeping the fire burning for a considerable amount of time. In fact, there are some gels available that can be used in fireplaces without complex ventilation systems. As is the case with most installations that will be built into your property, you should take some time to study and research before making any purchases.

Fireplaces are used primarily to heat the home in winter; during the rest of the year (and during warm weather), it can be argued that they are used primarily for decorative purposes. Fireplaces help to establish a specific appeal within living room areas that is undeniable. A fireplace is a symbol of attractive interior design, but depending on the type of fireplace that is installed, it can also be a symbol of luxury and status. Artistic furniture is usually superior to plain furniture, particularly from an aesthetic point of view.

So, how do you go about decorating your fireplace without spending a fortune? The answer is found in one word: customization. Instead of purchasing entire fireplace designs with its mantel and ventilation system set out for you, you can alter the visual aspects of design by choosing from a set of fireplace surround designs the style that appeals most to you.

Determining an appropriate fireplace surround design

Among the most customizable aspects of your fireplace installation is the fireplace surround design or fireplace mantel design. The fireplace surround is the section of the fireplace that seems to wrap around the flame pit, and is used mainly for decoration. This means that you can decorate it according to your own personal tastes, but that is another subject entirely. When it comes to selecting an appropriate surround design, there are additional factors to take into consideration. One of these is the size of your living room (or any other room where the fireplace could be installed).

Size of Fireplace Surrounds

Fireplace surrounds are sold in a variety of different styles, ranging from plain and simple looking structures to extravagant masterpieces of carpentry or masonry that may look more like monuments than actual fireplace surrounds. This means that you will be provided with plenty of options to choose from, but the size of your living room area can provide an important clue as to which type of surround would look best within it. If your room is particularly large and bare, then a large surround could help to improve design by enriching it with more variety. On the other hand, if the living room is smaller and well-furnished, then a minimalist approach might be better suited to the situation. In general, smaller surrounds look better in smaller rooms, and larger surrounds look better in larger rooms.

Style and Fireplace Surround Design

Beyond the size of the fireplace surround itself, another point to consider is style. Surrounds are often made from wood, but they can be made from stone or marble as well. In many cases, the surround is crafted and enhanced with a specific artistic style. This could include artistic engravings, patterns, or specific geometrical shapes. Finding your ideal fireplace surround can be accomplished by taking the two factors of size and style into consideration. Have a look at your living room and consider its overall design theme. Does it have a traditional style characteristic of the Victorian era or a more contemporary design? Is your living room large or small? These factors can help you to determine which among the wide range of fireplace surround designs is best suited for your living room.

You might find the idea of a ventless fireplace very confusing. Don’t all fireplaces need some way of venting out the smoke? Well, actually, ventless fireplaces do exist, although they may not fit the building codes in your area. These ventless fireplaces use propane or natural gas, not wood, and they include a sensor that measures the level of oxygen. If this level falls below a certain level, the gas is automatically shut off. These ventless fireplaces also produce very low amounts of carbon monoxide.

Ventless fireplace designs focus on re-circulating heat. This makes them incredibly efficient at warming up a room. Most of the heat comes from the combustion gases. However, while they work very well, they actually don’t look as nice as wood burning fireplaces or other gas fireplaces. The flame is smaller and doesn’t look as realistic. Generally, you also have to place the ventless fireplace near a window and have that window opened just a bit.

Ventless fireplaces do not allow you to actually access the flame itself—it’s sealed behind a glass door so that no gas can leak into the room. There is a small air intake that allows oxygen to enter the fireplace, and you do have to point the small wall-mounted vent out a window or even through the roof so that the cooled combustion gases can be vented. Most also feature a fan that blows the warm around the room and then sucks in the cooled air to reheat it. These fans increase the heat circulation and help heat the area more quickly, although they are optional.

There are a number of different ventless fireplace designs. The standard size is a one-sided model that can be placed up against a window, but there are two-sided, three-sided, and even four-sided models, plus some ventless fireplaces are designed to find in the corner or in a bay window. There are some special models made to go at the end of your kitchen bar as well. All models come in different sizes, with some wider, higher, or deeper than others. Most are available in either rear or top venting, and some models give you longer vents than others. The ventless fireplace design that’s right for you depends on what you need the fireplace for and how close you can put it to the window or roof. However, as you can see, there are enough different designs that you’re sure to find one that works for you.

Are you thinking about using a patio fireplace? They are very popular these days because they allow you to enjoy the outdoors even during the coldest months, and are fireplace design ideas that make for excellent communal areas for friends and family. However, there are a number of different styles and designs available, and if you don’t know much about patio fireplaces, you may find yourself a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. You do have to keep in mind that fireplace codes vary from location to location, so be certain you purchase a patio fireplace that is legal in your area.

Patio fireplaces look very similar to those you would find indoors, but there a few major differences: patio fireplaces don’t use dampers, and while they do have a chimney, it’s obviously not as tall as an indoor fireplace’s chimney is. However, it’s tall enough that the smoke will be vented away from you and won’t interfere with your activities. While some indoor fireplaces may be designed more for looks than for heat production, outdoor fireplace designs focus on heating up the surrounding area so you’re comfortable in the cold. There are several different patio fireplace designs that can keep you toasty while you’re outdoors.

The first design is often build into a small retaining wall or garden wall. This design focuses on style—it becomes one of the central points of your outdoor area. This type of model often includes a built-in wood storage bin and may even have a small ledge built in front of it for you to sit on.

The second type of patio fireplace design is simply built on to the end of your patio. It is a stand-alone fireplace, and while it may not look at stylish as a fireplace built into a retaining wall, it provides a good amount of heat for both those sitting on the patio and those out in the yard. These patio fireplaces are great if you’re having dinner on your patio.

Finally, some patio fireplace designs feature large rocks that surround the opening of the fireplace. These patio fireplaces are great for outdoor dining, plus they offer a very unique look and style. They don’t look as much like traditional indoor fireplaces. For some, this look may not fit in with the rest of their outdoor area, but for others, it may be perfect. Of course, these three designs are just a few of the options that you’ll find for patio fireplaces.

One way to add that little extra something to your home décor is by doing something with your fireplace. In fact, many people have found that with just a little effort they are able to install some fantastic fireplace hearth designs. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is through the installation of fireplace tiles. These small decorations come in a wide variety of different styles and shapes, not to mention colours, which will help you to decorate your hearth in a way that will compliment the rest of your house and serve as a stunning centrepiece for your overall décor.

One of the first things that you will want to decide when you are looking at hearth fireplace designs is what kind of material you want to use to decorate everything. For example, if you are looking to do a more natural decoration, then you might want to look at the use of glass, terra cotta, and stone. There are a lot of different decorating options that you can choose from that incorporate these facets into the hearth’s design.

If you are looking to go in a different direction and accomplish something a little more modern then you can use a blend of brightly coloured tiles next to startling white glossy tiles. This contrast will help to make the hearth stand out in a new and exciting way. Just make sure that the colours you are planning on using will compliment your existing design scheme, and you should be able to easily match up a hearth design that will look more like a piece of art instead of a functioning fireplace. Just remember that there are a lot of different colours and inlaid designs in the colours that you will need to choose from. It helps if you are able to visualize the design and find a way to integrate it into the existing décor of your home. If necessary you can even bring colour samples with you to help you make your decision.

So, if you are looking for a way to reinvent your plain Jane fireplace, then remember that fireplace hearth ideas are a good way to do this without having to spend a lot of money. Not to mention the fact that most of these designs can be easily accomplished in a few days without having to have a full demolition crew in and out of your house, causing you a lot of headache and mess.

Contemporary fireplace designs come in a variety of styles. Some look very similar to standard fireplaces, while others may look completely different. Contemporary fireplaces may not look right in every room, especially those that are decorated in a more traditional manner.

The most traditional of the contemporary fireplace designs looks like a standard fireplace. It’s set into the wall, but instead of being on the floor, it’s usually elevated a bit and has a brick area in front of it that can be used as a seat. These fireplace design ideas are flush against the wall, and most have very sleek glass doors on them. Some have a mantle above them like a standard fireplace, but some don’t.

Other contemporary fireplaces look like pictures. These fireplaces are mounted up a bit higher than standard fireplaces. These insert fireplaces usually require much less care than traditional fireplaces and many are actually gas-burning. They only give the appearance of being a wood burning fireplace. This means you don’t have to mess with cleaning them or adding wood. Some don’t even have working doors.

Other interesting contemporary fireplaces are suspended between two tubes. The base tube is fairly high so that the actual fireplace is about eye level or so. It’s basically a metal box, and it’s a bit smaller than traditional fireplaces. The top tube is the exhaust. What’s interesting about these types of contemporary fireplaces is that they aren’t set in the wall. You can walk all the way around them if you like. There are even some that come with motors and rotate to distribute heat throughout the room.

Another interesting type of contemporary fireplace design harkens back to the old wood burning stoves. These fireplaces are set up on four legs and are usually square or trapezoid shaped. This classic design has been made as sleek and smooth as possible, bringing a very modern and minimalist look to a classic design.

Finally, you can actually find a contemporary fireplace that features an oven above it. These fireplaces look almost like refrigerators, only they feature a fireplace in the lower half and an oven in the upper half. If you’re looking to make brick oven pizza or bake a lot of great tasting food without using your standard oven, this type of fireplace is very useful. It’s also a great option for making dinner if you lose electricity for an extended period of time.

If you are looking to redo your brick fireplace, or even build a brick fireplace from scratch, then you should know that there are a lot of options in the brick fireplace designs that you can choose from. Many people think of the traditional brick hearth when they are considering how they are going to do their fireplace, but the truth is that there are a lot of different designs that you can choose from, ranging from the traditional square inset design to the more modern art deco A-frame brick fireplace design.

One thing to remember when you are considering the different fireplace options is the effect that they will have on your home’s overall décor. For example, you would not even want to consider the more modern brick fireplace designs if your home is one that is more traditionally decorated as this would cause a startling contrast that could force you to completely redecorate your home.

If you want to use your fireplace as a starting off place to this change in décor, then you should probably consider some option that offers a good combination of both traditional and modern designs. This way there is not such a drastic contrast between it and the rest of your home that you will have to redecorate everything else immediately. On the other hand, if you are looking to completely revamp your home, then starting off with the brick fireplace designs is probably a good option.

For those who are looking to have a new fireplace built into their homes, it is important to remember that although more modern fireplaces are often very stylish and interesting, the traditional design is one that has been the prevalent design for this long for a reason. The square set brick fireplace designs can have some variations (including the use of rough stone instead of brick), they can be used with a variety of different decorating options which may not be true of more modern designs.

Whichever design you decide on, you can be sure that you will enjoy your brick fireplace for many years to come as it will not only be a decorative piece of your home, but it will also be an important way for you to get heat in your home during the cold winter months. So, while the design is an important consideration, it is only one of many as a fireplace has multiple purposes.
